Michael Buckley Obituary
Passed away peacefully, after a long illness at St. John of God Convalescent Home in Los Angeles, on May 1. Father Dan was a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for 52 years, having been ordained on April 27, 1955 by Cardinal James Francis McIntyre at St. Vibiana's Cathedral.
Father was assigned to a number of parishes throughout the Archdiocese over the years, in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and Orange Counties. For the past 11 years he had resided at St. John of God Hospital, where he received loving care from the excellent staff. Father Dan was known for his artistic gifts, as well. His art graces the walls of many churches, convents, and homes.
He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Marguerite (Carey), and his sister Marguerite Wood. He is survived by his sister Patricia Amelsberger (Oliver), and numerous nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Cemetery, Chapel of the Risen Christ Chapel, on Saturday May 5 at 9:30. Interment to follow at Holy Cross.

Fr. Dan trained me as an altar boy back in the 1970's. He was a good man and a great priest. My family visited him a few time in New Cuyama. On his card he had - 'If the devil don't get you, Father Dan will.' Also his priest hat hung in the Buckhorn along with Bishop Shupsta's. Peace be unto him.

I went to the first grade at St Thomas School in Los Angeles Ca. We remained friends for years.Danny
had a great sence of humor, he was always welcomed in our home, my husband and him got along real well. It was always nice to have Him say Mass in our home. I will miss him. Sincerely Joyce Sullivan Webster

Father Buckley married my wife Marie and I 50 years ago this sept 21. We were the first couple he married at Sacred Heart church in Los Angeles. God bless his soul.
