Michael Burns Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 16, 2024.
Mr. Michael Jon Burns, aged 51, of McHenry, IL, passed away at home on May 22, 2024.

Born In Park Ridge and raised in Wheeling and Deerfield, Michael attended Stevenson High School and later pursued the culinary arts at Triton College. Mike went on to be a bakery owner, a property owner/manager and most importantly to him, a father. Dedicated to his family and a man who loved numbers, he had an elephant's memory like his dad and a smart wit about him. He was always right, always wanted to win, and always tried to be the "funny" guy. He loved watching movies of all kinds, technology and talking late into the night. He loved a good debate, and his conversations were never short. If it needed fixing, he'd find a way and was determined as the day was long, a trait he also shared with his Dad.

He is survived by his lifelong partner, Kelly Sikula, his son, Michael (Mikey) Burns Jr. and his mom, Diane Burns. Michael will be deeply missed by his siblings, Heather (Nick) Kapande, Sarah Burns, Brittanny (Travis) Smith, and Zachary (Hannah) Lamothe. Caring Uncle to Dane (Haley), Troy, Brooklynn, Wesley, Jamison, Faith, Hunter, Lincoln, Rory and new Great Uncle to Lily. Loving nephew to Jeff (Shari) Schmidt, Susan Powers, and his many cousins.

Preceded in death by his father, Terry Burns, mother, Pamela Deal, and grandparents, Earl and Betty Burns, Jean and Dewey Deal, and Lola and Rudy Schmidt.

In honor of Michael's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on July 20th at his parent's house in Deerfield, IL. The event will take place at 20817 Maple Ct, from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. Food will be served at noon and all are welcome to join in or stop by for a sharing of memories, stories or just for a friendly hello.

Gone way too soon and we sure will miss that sarcastic humor of his. May he rest in Peace.
