MARYVILLE, Mo. - Michael J. "Mike" Byland, 58, Maryville, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at his home in rural Maryville.
Mr. Byland was born on Nov. 5, 1948, in Lenawe County, Mich., the son of Dr. Benjamin and Lillian (Giboney) Byland. Mike was a 1967 graduate of Maryville High School; attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville; and served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Gregory's Church in Maryville.
Mike was a horseman. He had worked at Double B Farms (his father's); the race track in Hot Springs, Ark.; and most recently at Ak Sar Ben in Omaha, Neb.
Mike was preceded in death by parents; and sister, Nancy Byland.
He is survived by his brother, John T. Byland in Maryville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic Church in Maryville, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maryville. Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the James Edward Gray American Legion Post No. 100, Maryville. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
Memorials may be made to St. Gregory's Barbarigo Catholic School, Maryville, in Mike's name.
