Resident of Santa Rosa
Michael Candelario, 67, of Santa Rosa Ca., passed away June 1, 2014 with his family by his side after battling pancreatic cancer for 2 months. He was born in Oakland, Ca. on May 27, 1947 to the late Rinaldo and Elizabeth Candelario. Michael grew up in San Leandro, graduating San Leandro High School in 1965 where he was a standout football player. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He married his high school sweet heart Lynne Haubold in 1968 living together for 18 years in San Leandro before relocating to Santa Rosa where they resided for the last 25 years. He faithfully served his community for 31 years as a Captain in the Alameda County Fire Department. He was a selfless man who dedicated his life to caring for others: in his job as a Fire Fighter; as a devoted family man; as a caring member of his community. He was an avid golfer and a talented cabinet maker who loved to work with his hands. Michael is survived by his wife Lynne, two sons Christopher and Zachary, two daughter-in laws Erinn and Mary, four granddaughters Chloe, Charlotte, Tatum and Belen, and two siblings Don and Renee. The Funeral Liturgy celebrating his life will be held on Friday June 6, 2014 at All Saints Church 22824 Second St. Hayward, CA. at 10;30 A.M. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society

Lynne and Family I'm so sorry and sad to hear about Mike. He was an awesome guy and was such a good calm soul. I will so miss his humor and our talks on the putting green. He was a true friend.

Out of the kindness of his heart, Mr. Candelario installed backpack hooks at his granddaughters' school last year. I'm sure this will be just one of the many marks of generosity he left us. I will remember his kindness every time I see my students' backpacks hanging neatly outside my classroom.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I met him in the early 90's when Castro Valley FD merged with Eden Consolidated to form ACFD. Mike was a nice guy, my sympathy to his family.
