Michael Beddow Curley

Michael B. Curley, 80, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Allentown, Bowers, Reading, and Mexico City, died March 8, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Mary E. (Riegel) Curley. They would have been married 56 years in April, 2023. He was a mechanical engineer for the power industry, performing everything from design to acquisition for fossil through nuclear, prior to retiring in 2002 after a heart transplant. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Chester C. Curley Jr. and Alva B. (Beddow) Curley. He was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), class of 1965. He sailed for 4 years, reaching Japan, Thailand, Australia, India, Spain and the UK until the birth of first son, Kevin. He was a 21-year heart transplant recipient. An eternal student of history, Mike collected a formidable library, he was a hobbyist woodsmith, HO train enthusiast, and an avid collector of automobile memorabilia. Baker, of Narragansett, RI; son, Kevin R. and his wife Dana Curley, of Denver, CO; son, Eric J. and his wife, Suzanne Curley, of League City, TX; grandchildren, Keelin, Aidan, and Kade Curley.
