Michael Dalkiewicz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 10, 2025.
Michael David Dalkiewicz, 68, of Chester, VA, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia.

Born on January 11, 1957, in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Mike was the beloved son of the late Leo Theodore Dalkiewicz and Geraldine Cusick Dalkiewicz. He spent his formative years in Hopewell, Virginia, where he graduated from Hopewell High School in 1975.

Mike will be remembered for his joyful smile, independent spirit, and unwavering determination. He approached life with a playful sense of humor and a deep love for those around him. A true prankster at heart, he delighted in making his nieces and nephews laugh and cherished time spent with family and friends. Many fond memories were made during gatherings at the Pour House in the West End, where Mike enjoyed sharing stories and laughter with those close to him.

After high school, Mike moved to Washington, DC, where he began a distinguished career in the printing industry. His passion for the craft was evident throughout his years at The Kelly Companies (formerly Kelly Press), where he earned a reputation as the only pressman in the DC region capable of expertly operating the Hamada 820 press. His technical skill and dedication propelled him into leadership roles as operations manager at several printing companies. In the early 1990s, Mike fulfilled a lifelong dream by founding MD Graphics. He poured his heart into the business, often working long hours to ensure every customer received exceptional service.

Later in life, Mike transitioned to the home improvement industry, where he spent 25 years helping homeowners across Virginia. He lived in Roanoke for several years while successfully expanding his company's reach in that region before settling in Chester during his final year.

Among the many stories Mike loved to tell was one from his teenage years in Hopewell-when he and his high school friends played a pickup basketball game against NBA legend Moses Malone and his friends at Thomas Rolfe Court. It was a moment that captured both his adventurous spirit and love for sports.

Mike is survived by his siblings: Deborah Dalkiewicz Jackson (Fred), Gerald Dalkiewicz, and Mark Dalkiewicz; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lee Stanley Bernard Dalkiewicz; his uncle, Ronald Cusick; and his aunt, Sylvia Yesul.

Mike's generosity extended beyond his lifetime-he was a registered organ donor. Though medical circumstances prevented organ donation, he was able to donate tissue through LifeNet Health to help others in need.

A private celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Mike, donations may be made to LifeNet Health. Contributions will support donor families, local education efforts, and community-level organ and tissue recovery services throughout Virginia and surrounding areas.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at VCU Medical Center and to LifeNet Health for their exceptional care and support during this time.

Mike's joyful spirit, dedication to hard work, and love for those around him will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
