Michael Easom Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 4, 2025.
Michael Paul "BAMF" Easom, 46, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on April 29, 2025, in his hometown. A lifelong resident of Tampa, Michael was born on October 25, 1978, and remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped him.

Michael dedicated nearly two decades to Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation, beginning his service in 2006. His commitment and leadership led him to the role of Athletic Program Supervisor, where he played a vital part in enriching recreational opportunities for countless residents. His passion for sports and community engagement extended beyond his county work-since 2011, Michael also served with Prospect Wire Baseball. Starting as Operations Director, he rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Operations in 2021. His influence helped shape youth baseball across the region and beyond.

Known affectionately by friends as "BAMF," Michael was a beloved figure in the North Tampa baseball community. His presence at local fields was a constant source of encouragement and energy for players, families, and fellow coaches alike.

Before his professional career took off, Michael made his mark as an athlete. He was once crowned Florida Heavyweight Champion during his wrestling days-a title he held proudly upon retiring from the sport. His love for competition continued throughout his life through fantasy football and baseball leagues, where he brought the same intensity and camaraderie that defined so many aspects of his life.

Michael's passions were as vibrant as his personality. He loved golfing with friends under the Florida sun, scratching off lottery tickets with hopeful anticipation, watching NFL football every Sunday surrounded by good company, and collecting and trading sports cards-a hobby that reflected both nostalgia and a deep appreciation for athletic excellence. A devoted Marvel movie fan, he never missed a premiere and relished sharing those cinematic moments with others.

He attended Chamberlain High School in Tampa, where he served as Class Treasurer during both junior high and high school-early signs of the leadership qualities that would define much of his adult life.

In 2011, Michael married Tracie Lynch. Together they built a life filled with laughter, shared passions, and unwavering support for one another. Their daughter Kayla brought immense joy into Michael's world; she was the light of his life and a source of endless pride.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, James and Glenda Easom. He is survived by his loving wife Tracie and their cherished daughter Kayla.

A small, private memorial was held for Michael following his passing.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21st in Tampa, FL at Rick's on the River, from 6 PM to 10 PM. All are welcome to attend the celebration. An RSVP Invitation will be posted shortly.

Impossible to explain the electricity in the room. It was an open air warehouse with 200 people waiting in anticipation for Mike's wrestling debut. Drinks flowed and predictions echoed, we all wanted BAMF to put on a show.

Steve Madison gave him a noble effort but Mike was too much and the adoring fans erupted when the pin happened. I have the DVD if anyone needs proof.

Mikey was one of a kind. We skipped school to play golf, debated 80s cartoons, we went to Vegas and won money playing craps (lost money everywhere else).

Some people talk about sports but Mike threw fastballs on a diamond and blocked pass rushers to protect a quarterback. Some people watch wrestling but Mike took chairs to the head in a wrestling ring (and hit other with chairs). Some people watch poker on ESPN but Mike hosted poker night at his house with waitresses. His legacy is that he did lots of things and in retrospect it was amazing.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Mike. He was a huge supporter of our organization Kangaroo Court and the Top Tier Roos, and in general a huge supporter of youth baseball in the Tampa area. His work gave kids a place to play and helped high school kids gain the exposure to continue to chase dreams at the college level. He became a friend and was always someone ready to help.
