Michael Tyrone (Bay) Edwards was a great Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather (Pa Pa) and Friend to all. A great all-around guy. Born to the proud parents of Roger L. Edwards and Ida L. Edwards on May 9, 1955. He was the 2nd child born to this union.
Michael united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at a very young age and dedicated his life to Christ along with many of his childhood friends and family. He was educated in the Nashville Metro School system beginning at Wharton Elementary, Cumberland Jr. High and North High School. At a young age, Michael met his soul mate Sylvia DeBerry, and they were united in holy matrimony on November 16, 1986, and until his death they were married for 36 happy years. He was a great Chef in some of the major restaurants in Nashville and loved to cook. He also worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center until his health begin to fail. His greatest love was Fishing, watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was also a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge – Mt. Nebo Lodge #67.
Michael was proceeded in death by his parents Roger and Ida Edwards, Mother-in-Law Annie Pearl DeBerry, Brother, William Burse, Nephew, Jermonte Lightford and Granddaughter, La’Diamon Pointer.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Sylvia Edwards, Brother Ralph Edwards (Gail Nolan), Sister Donna Edwards-Quarles (Bert Johnson), Daughter(s) Tiffany Rogers and Crystal Groves, Son Emmanuel Rogers, Brother-in-Law Herman DeBerry (Betina), Sister-in-Law Elizabeth DeBerry. Grandchildren Christopher Jones, Markez Groves, Kaleb Jones, Khyree Russell, Nevaeh, and Brayden Young. Nephews D ’Shaun, Jaron and Ralph Edwards, Jr., Cory North, James Horton, Alex DeBerry, and Devan Lightford. Nieces Teeneshia Edwards, Chelsey Lightford, LaTonya DeBerry-Willis, LaTashia DeBerry, Jermonica Lightford, LaToya Dyer, Felecia DeBerry, Jada, and Harley Edwards. A host of great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Special recognition to his most beloved fishing partners and childhood friends, Dennis Houston, Dana Owens, James Rogers, Leonard Hambrick, Michelle Phillips, Jonathan North, Walter (Sonny) Knox, Truck Turner, John (Duck) Hogan and Larry Robinson.
Special recognition and thanks to friends and family, Dearest neighbors Chelsea and Josh, Mary and Anolia Teasley, Theresa Groves, Shirley Brown, Alberta Shelton, Jimmie Dean Hill, and The Lockridge Family. And to The North Nashville Buchanan Street/22 nd Ave No/Osage Street/Hummingbird Drive families and the entire Treppard Heights, Kings Lane and Haynes Manor families we thank you for the growth, development, maturing and lasting friendships.
