I worked for Mike & Lil at Handicraft from 1977 until they sold the business to Ross. They taught me a great many skills and left me with many fond memories of a simpler time. I have thought of Mike many times over the years and will always keep a special spot in my heart just for him.

Michael, my friend; He truly was a friend. I met Michael when I was 7 years old at the handicraft supplies. He was always encouraging and after numerous years, we were reacquainted. I built him a solar home on his land at leisure land. I worked on many other projects at his dancehall there.
I always found it remarkable at his energy, the fun we had working together and he was 80 years old then. Michael is a great example of a healthy lifestyle.... A very good man, indeed.

Those of us at Meewasin are so very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. In another way, however, it should be a time for celebration for everything that Mike contributed to the community. One of the themes of his life seems to be making families happy with his wonderful hobby store, and, of course, Leisureland, a beautiful natural area that Meewasin now owns. He worked at the reception hall there until his late 80's. Even then you could witness where thousands of children had enjoyed the train, the ferris wheel and the tampoline over the years. He was a delightful and kind man who will be missed by Meewasin and this community.

As a young boy my father would take me into Handicraft, we would often see Mr. Egnatoff working there. How I thought it was such a wonderful place. Thank you for your contribution to my boyhood spirit. May you be in the presence of God.
