I knew Mike at Penn State. Today, I tried to catch up with Mike through google searching for him; I cannot believe his obituary is what I found.
Michael is one of my most vivid Penn State memories, always meeting me for a late hour drink, or just calling me in the newsroom to shoot the breeze. Now that I think back, I'll bet he was looking for a news scoop! I even made reference to him in my farewell Collegian editorial. I will forever appreciate him for always appreciating me, and for reminding me of who I truly am.
My very deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Mike. He was a special guy, and won't be forgotten.

To Lizzy and Mikes family, our prayers and thoughts are with you. We got to know Mike and Lizzy through shooting trap at the Shippensburg Fish and Game, we were all looking forward to Mike shooting on our team this coming summer. Mike fit right in and brought an excitement with a great attitude. Mike always had a smile on his face and you could tell his love for Lizzy, as she was always there by his side. You will be missed Mike, by the trap team as a member and more importantly as a friend...Randy & Cathy Parson & the Shbg. Trap team members.

My thoughts and prayes go out to Mike's family and Lizzy and her family. He touched many lives including mine. He shared his love and variety of music with me and my family. He shared his recipes and his love of good food. He always had a good tip or idea for any problem you came across. He was smart, funny, and kind. I am greatful to have known him and I'm greatful to have seen the love that him and Lizzy shared, as it was pure and strong.

A truly special man has left this earth but not my heart. You will be missed my friend. You had a big heart and a smile to match. I will never forget the daily talks we had at work. From guns to music to hunting to hockey, your knowledge of everything was astounding. I believe you had a recipe for just about anything. My garden will forever be plentiful from the tips you gave me. My prayers go out to your family which I know you loved very much. He always talked of his trips to Pittsburgh and his love for Lizzy. Michael was really one of a kind. I'll miss you buddy. Hopefully heaven has a great view for the Penguins!!

Mike, I'm in shock about a lot of things. You were a good friend and roommate to me for many years and then things fell apart, as they sometimes do. I figured I'd get a call someday in my 50s and we'd grab a beer and laugh and yell at each other before we laughed some more. Now, it looks like we won't have that opportunity. C'est la vie, but that is very sad indeed.
It looks like I've been led to believe a number of things, but it is very refreshing to read these other condolences and infer that you found happiness in your life. For that I am very thankful.
I offer my sincerest condolences to your family and friends. I'm very sorry for their loss. You were taken much too early, but I will go forward believing that you lived life to its fullest. Good bye, Mike.

Oh Michael, we are so sorry. It was our privilege to have known you. I so enjoyed your company when we shot at the range or talked hunting at gatherings. You were a sturdy Oak and all who knew you, took comfort in the shade of your presence. May the Lord bless you with eternal happiness in His house and arms. May He bring solace and comfort to your family. We loved you too.
