Michael Anthony Fozio

September 10, 1965 - September 7, 2025

Michael "Mike" Anthony Fozio of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away at home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the young age of 59 after a long fight with heart failure and prostate cancer. Beloved husband of 37 years to Debra Fozio, née Michaelsen. Devoted father of his daughter, Ashley (Chad) Corey. Incredibly proud Pepaw of Evelyn Corey (3) and Milo Corey (1).

Michael grew up in Bellwood, Illinois, and attended St. Joseph High School in Westchester. He met the love of his life, Debbie, while working at Jewel Food Store in Westchester. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1988. Their love helped them welcome their only child, Ashley, in 1990. In 1993, they moved to Aurora, Illinois, where they resided until 2015. Mike was a proud member of IUOE Local 150 as an Operating Engineer for over 20 years until his early retirement in 2020. He enjoyed spending time with his brotherhood of the Knights of Columbus. Mike had a big heart for animals and loved spending time with his dogs Bentley, Hannah, and Fiona, as well as his cats Dakota, Wally, and Willie. As a true animal lover, Mike intends for his pacemaker to be donated to a local animal hospital to help an animal in need. If he wasn't outside working in the yard, he enjoyed watching the Badgers, Packers, Blackhawks, or Cubbies play.

He is also survived by his mother, Ruth Fozio; sister, Lisa Fozio-(Michael) Thielk; mother-in-law, LaVerne Dissmeyer; father-in-law, Mike (Carmen) Michaelsen; brothers-in-law, Terry Michaelsen (Kerry Korda), Ricky (Janet) Michaelsen; sister-in-law, Donna Michaelsen; and many of his friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Dominic Fozio; his aunts, Rosemary (Nat) Mentjox and Dianne (Tom) Carik; uncle, Robert Edwards; and other special family members, including Fred Dissmeyer and Ginger Michaelsen; as well as many of his beloved pets.

A Celebration of Mike's life will take place in October.
