David Michael Galloway (Michael), 75, of
Corpus Christi, TX passed from this earth on Thursday, 8 June 2023. He is survived by his sons, Joshua Paul Ulrich of
Durango, CO, and Jason Albert Galloway and wife Shay, of
San Diego, CA, as well as his daughter Hannah Merle Galloway Walis and husband Jeff of Colorado Springs, CO. Michael had three grandchildren Hays Galloway (8), Brynn Galloway (5) and Juniper Walis (5). He is also survived by his two brothers, Jerry Galloway and wife Betty of Sunset, TX, and Chris Galloway and wife Pebble of
Bedford, TX. Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Janny, and his parents, David E. Galloway and Merle E. Galloway, with whom he is joyfully reunited.
Michael was born on 7 April 1948 to David and Merle (Esterak) Galloway in
Kingsville, TX. He graduated in 1966 from W.B. Ray High School in
Corpus Christi, TX and went on to attend University of Mississippi for 2 years. From there, he transferred to Southwestern University in
Georgetown, TX and graduated with a BS in Humanistic Psychology.
In April 1979, Michael married Teresa (Terry) Lynn (Busch) Ulrich in
Fulshear, TX. He adopted her two sons, Josh and Jason. He and Terry also welcomed their daughter, Hannah. The family started their life in Wheatridge, CO and eventually moved to Colorado Springs, CO. Michael and Terry divorced after 11 years.
He moved back to his home state of Texas and reunited with an old friend who became the love of his life, Janice (Janny) Ann (Wheatley) Cary. The two were married on 24 June 2000 in
Blanco, TX and celebrated 21 years of marriage before Janny was sadly lost to cancer. During their time together, they lived in several places including Weatherford, TX, Canyon Lake, TX, Palacios, TX, Sunset, TX and Tererro, NM. They shared their lives with the many friends they made along the way and made many wonderful memories in each place they lived.
Michael lived an interesting life and always followed his passion. His friends and family loved him for his goofy personality and lively sense of humor. He was known for his wild turns of phrase, where colorful descriptions were a regular feature. Michael was an avid sportsman, finding joy in the outdoors with activities like hiking, hunting, fishing and camping. He was also an amazing cook and treated his loved ones to delicious meals that often resulted from long, elaborate preparations.
Michael will be deeply missed and was greatly loved by his family and many friends. Family has chosen cremation with arrangements entrusted to Berardinelli Family Funeral Service of Santa Fe, NM. A celebration of life will be held on 1 July 2023 at his cabin in Tererro, NM. Those who knew him well know that was his favorite place on earth. An additional celebration of life will be held for friends and family in TX at a later date.
