Michael Gingell Obituary
GINGELL Ryhope The mother and family of the late Michael (Mick), would like to thank relations and friends for their messages of condolence, Mass cards, floral tributes and donations to St Benedict's Hospice Teams. To his good friends who visited Mick throughout his illness, grateful thanks. Special thanks to the District Nurses, Macmillan Nurse Maureen Wilson, and GP's and staff at Southlands Medical Group, the Out of Hours Palliative Care Team and 24/7 Urgent Care Team, Marie Curie, B.N.A., Doctor Robson and staff, Mr Burns, Mr Banks, Dawn Iveson and Head and Neck staff at Sunderland Royal Hospital. Grateful thanks also to Scollen & Wright Funeral Services and to Father Brian, Reverend Mr Norman Barron, Sister Alphonsus, organist Ken and Frank Haley for such a memorable service.

Mick was known to me for only a short time but what a huge impact he made. We’d often have a coffee in town and when he made his last tour of Europe he sent a postcard from every country he visited. He was a great unknown poet and a very good and dear friend. He encouraged me a great deal and I’ll never forget him. Hey Mick, I finally found you as an extra in Moses The Lawgiver! With Burt Lancaster! There you were about 22 or something. God Bless ya man! I’m honoured to have met you.
