Michael Lee Groves passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, after a long illness.
Michael was the first child and son born to Clifford and Eldora Groves in Gillette, Wyo., Nov. 28, 1948. He was the oldest of five children. His parents moved their children to Oregon around 1956. He went to West Linn public schools, graduating from West Linn High School in 1967. His studies took him to Reed College where he graduated to begin his teaching career. Hobbies during his life included fly fishing, being an avid photographer, learning French, traveling to as many countries as possible, playing squash, making sourdough and baking with it. He was an English teacher at West Linn and Wilsonville high schools. He was also involved with the drama department at Wilsonville HS putting on numerous plays throughout his tenure.
Michael was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; as well as his parents. He is survived by his siblings, Karen VanDomelen, Rebbecca "Becky" Groves, Jill Groves, and Mark Groves; including nieces and nephews.
A private celebration will be held June 10, 2023.
