When I went in to MyMechanic @ Copperfield, I was shocked and saddened to learn that Michael had passed away. Mike always remembered not only my name, but my cars! HE was the reason I kept going back there for my car repairs. Such a smart, friendly, person, a raconteur, a real kibbitzer. Mike was not only a good businessman, at the top of his game when providing customer service, but a real mensch, a charming, attractive man who obviously enjoyed being with and helping people. Going to the shop will never be the same. My heart goes out to all his relatives and friends.

I offer my belated but sincere condolences on your loss of Michael. I was truly shocked to learn of his untimely passing when I came in to have my car serviced on April 11. I knew Mike for about a year as a result of being a customer at My Mechanic /Copperfield. He was the primary reason I did business there- he was a very positive, intelligent, honest and kind hearted person whom I learned to really like and respect.
I pray that the Guttman family will be stronger for having had a person like Mike in their midst even for the relatively brief time he was with them.
God is with you now and always.

To the Guttman Family:

When I saw Michael in Cincinnati last December he looked and sounded well, so I was stunned when word came of his passing.

Michael and I switched schools together going from fourth to fifth grades and we bonded in the common experience.

We had a lot of good times together in Amberley Village, just hanging out and listening to music. Back then he was into his fish tanks and was trying to breed Oscars. That was before he started playing the guitar.

May he rest in peace and may the living remember only the good about him.

WHEN IT COMES TO MIKE GUTTMAN ONLY ONE WORD COMES TO MIND.
"SUCESSFUL" I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE MET A PERSON THAT WAS AS DETERMINED AS YOU WERE.BUT WHEN YOU REACHED YOUR GOAL IT STILL WASNT ENOUGH.WHICH COMES TO THE NEXT THAT BEST DESCRIBES YOU....NEVER SATISFIED!
IN MY EYES MIKE GUTTMAN I LOOKED UP TO YOU. DREAMS YOU MADE COME TRUE, TO MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE--POSSIBLE. MONTH AFTER MONTH YOU DID IT OVER AND OVER. BUT I COULD NEVER FIGURE YOU OUT.. HOW COULD SOMEONE WHO WORKED SO HARD IN THIS BUSINESS SHOW TO BE SO HAPPY ABOUT LIFE? I WISH YOU WERE HERE TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION MY FRIEND. I SMILE WHEN I THINK OF PICKING UP THE PHONE WHEN YOU WOULD CALL AND HEARING "HEY BUDDY"OR EVEN BETTER..."MICHAEL-MY MECHANIC COPPERFIELD" MY RESPONCE WAS I KNOW WHERE YOU WORK AT MIKE..!
FOR YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS WHO READ THIS I ASK OF ONE QUESTION.
MAYBE WHEN THINGS GET BETTER I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A PERSONAL BELONGING OF MIKE'S.....IT COULD BE AN OLD SHOE....DOESNT MATTER..JUST SOMETHING I CAN SAY WHEN FRIENDS ASK..."WHERE DID U GET THAT?" .......IT BELONGS TO A GREAT FRIEND OF MINE.....MG
I MISS YOU BUDDY!

Words fail me as I try to write how much Michael added to my life. How can you qualify advice, smiles, a shoulder to lean on, a help for business and a good friend anytime I needed one? My heartfelt condolences go out to Kathy and all Michael's family. He spoke of you all often with so much love. Michael will be so very very missed.

Dear Rick, Kathy and family
I work at My Mechanic for almost four years and i met Michael and Kathy for the first time in the Kirby location. Michael was testing me on my customer service skills at the time i didn't know who he was, he kept asking me difficult questions about his vehicle and wanted some repair estimates. After and hour talking to him he declined doing any repairs and said that he would rather go to My Mechanic @ Copperfield, but i was thinking to my head this guy is a tough mystery shopper.Later he told me who he was and we couldn't stop laughing.I miss you Mike and your phone calls you were a great friend and coworker you will always be in everybody hearts.Rick, Kathy and family if you need any help for anything give me call im here to help.281-772-5122

Dearest, dear Kathy and the Guttman and May Families,

Gosh, I am so utterly saddened by this tragic loss.

Kathy, Michael was always my favorite. His stories made me howl with laughter, and he was a sweet and loving man. I will never forget the "welcome back" you and he both extended to me.

I think back to both of you at the beginning, coming so far, making a beautiful couple and creating a lovely life together with Bugsy et. al. You both serve as an inspiration to other people, and I truly hope that you will not forget that.

You and Michael will always be MY heroes.

Always, with so much love, Kathy -
Jannie

Trust in G-d. Seek His guidance. Find Him in what you are doing right now. What would Michael have me do? This is what I learned from Him.

Even though I met him only once, briefly, he filled the room with such an energy that..... I still am unable to describe.

I know he meant the world to all of you and hope this note will help to express to eveyone how sorry I am for your loss.

I never had the opportunity or honor to know him as his family and friends. One thing I do stongly feel....is... he has his arms wrapped very tightly around all of you.
Make his life on this earth worth while and live on in his honor.

You are one of my soul sisters. Although time and space separates us, we are and forever will be connected. At this time, I keep thinking- I don't understand, but thank you God for the lessons. May you find new joy and new hope. "It's alright already." Much love.

Rick, Dorit, Kathy & family,

I have been with My Mechanic for three years now. The first time I met Mike was at a managers meeting. He had to let me know that all of his paperwork that came in from the store was always perfect. Never a mistake. I thought to myself..."who is he????" Well I soon found out. From then on out everytime he came into the office he would always ask how I was and if he could do anything to make my job easier. Always had a smile on his face.

I spoke with Mike nearly everyday. He was either answering a request of mine or just calling up to tell me how he was putting an RO in the system and how much it was going to be or just to talk a little. He was so funny. I am going to miss those phone calls and his Tuesday meetings with Rick. It is going to be hard not to see him walk through the door of office anymore. He is a great loss both professionally and personally.

My daughter, Kimber, met Mike at our company picnic and on the way home she said to me..."Mom, I really like that guy Mike. He was really nice to me." I thought that was pretty great.

Rick, Dorit and Kathy. I am here if you need me....always will be.

I am so sad over the loss of your husband; please know that both of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Michael was a great example and inspiration for me. Kathy,
I am so very sorry for your loss, for the loss all of us will endure. My memory of Michael is his beautiful smile, outgoing personality and his ability to make everyone feel special. He always greeted me with a hug and inquired about my life, regardless of what was going on his. When I moved back to Houston several years ago, he welcomed me with warmth, love and encouragement. I feel very blessed to have known him and to have had the privilege of calling him a friend. My world will never be the same without him. I love you both.

Kathy - I know that you know this - Stephen and I are here for you - always. I am certain Stephen will have something prophetic to add to this website - as would Michael. But, I don't have the words right now, just the sadness and pain of losing a dear friend. Michael really was "all that" - you are too - my heart aches. I love you - Leslie
