Michael Hebert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2024.
Michael Jude Hebert passed away in his sleep on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Mike was born in Flint, Michigan, to parents Victor and Judy Hebert.

Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and devoted caretaker of many rabbits and dogs. He was the first of six children and excelled at the big brother role, especially when the final two siblings arrived when Mike entered his teen years. Mike enjoyed watching cartoons, camping, and building models early in childhood. He was an engineer at heart who enjoyed investigating how things worked. The family moved between Michigan and California and eventually moved as far away as Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Michael graduated from Hong Kong International School in 1980. His passion for electronics and computers started during his high school years in Mr. Kung's electronics class and the AV club and continued back in the States at community college.

In Silicon Valley's infancy, Mike worked for companies specializing in circuit boards and power supply development. He loved constructing and racing custom mini cars like the famous Dinky, a shortened Honda N600, in his free time. Michael was renowned for his Halloween displays each year, which featured mechanized mannequins, lighting, and sound effects. He was enthusiastic about Tim Burton's work, especially The Nightmare Before Christmas. Many of his nieces and nephews attribute their love of Halloween to him.

Michael is survived by his mother, Judy Hebert; father, Victor and his wife Myrna; brother, Gabriel and his wife Susan; sister, Carolyn and her husband Jim; brother, Raphael; sister, Katy and her husband Brad; brother, Matthew and his wife Lara; stepbrother, Justin; and stepsister, Kayla. He will be forever in their hearts.

Michael's life will be celebrated at the Land of Medicine Buddha, 5800 Prescott Road, Soquel, CA, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to StJude.org, your local Humane Society, or other favorite charity.
