Michael Holland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 5, 2023.

Michael Holland, 59, of Elkridge, MD, departed this life on Sunday, March 19, 2023, in Salem, Virginia.

Michael was born in Miami, Florida on September 11, 1963, to Veronica Maria Lutz and Michael Holland (Bear). He grew up in the Tidewater area of Virginia and graduated from Western Branch High School before joining the United States Marine Corps, and then on to becoming a member of the Army National Guard retiring as a Master Sergeant. Michael graduated from Old Dominion University and went on to pursue a career in Cybersecurity. He had a total of over 24 years of combined military service and his career also led him to serve as support for the United States Military in multiple capacities as he worked to protect and secure through his roles within the Cybersecurity field.

Throughout his life, Michael was known for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He loved a good slice of pizza, bbq with char, watching TV with his girls, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Miami Dolphins! (avid is an understatement, he was obsessed lol.) His compassion and generosity touched countless lives, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew him, an absolutely brilliant, loving man.

Michael is survived by his best friend and wife Tamara; his daughters Maria (Raheem) and Breyanna; his in-laws, Ralph and Verdell Harris who he affectionately referred to as Mom and Dad; his sister, Mary Catherine; grandchildren, Kaceyn and Kaylee; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins all of whom will miss him dearly. He's also survived by numerous friends, colleagues, and fellow "Dolph-fans" who were fortunate enough to share in his life's journey. He was predeceased by his mother, Veronica; stepdad, George; and friend of a lifetime, Terry McMenamin. They're together again!

“Blessed are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labors for their good deeds go with them.”
Although words seldom bring comfort at a time like this, I know prayer works. I'm praying the Lord gives you and your family strength and a comforting hand as you go through this trying time. Mike was a great friend and a great colleague - he is dearly missed by all of us who had the pleasure of working with him.

Enjoyed a few of telephone conversations with Michael although had never met this great gentleman physically. So sad to learn he has left us forever. My deepest sympathy goes out to Tanya and Breyanna as you struggle through the grief and sadness. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bring Michal the peace.

We were good friends as kids and through social media we were able to reconnect and loosely keep tabs on each other. Glad he grew into a happy adult that appeared to enjoy life. Hope his adult friends enjoyed his company as much as the 12 years old bunch of us did.
