In Loving Memory of Michael Robert Jennings

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Robert Jennings on February 19, 2024. Michael left us at the age of 78 after a brave battle with cognitive decline, a result of multiple strokes over the past decade. He spent his last days in the loving care of Sun Valley Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas.

Michael entered this world in March of 1945, in Seattle, Washington, the third oldest of eleven siblings in a lively Irish Catholic family. Raised in a community rich with tradition and strong family values, he diligently pursued his education, graduating from Loretto Heights College (now Regis University) with two B.A. degrees (Behavioral Sciences & Sociology) and then headed on to the University of Colorado where he obtained an M.A. degree in Sociology. This academic path set the stage for a varied and meaningful career.

Before embarking on a significant 30+ year career at Boeing, Michael's adventurous nature led him to work on a ranch in Montana and with a suicide prevention team in Denver. His service to our country was marked by his four years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where his aircraft carrier provided crucial support to wounded heroes returning from the front lines.

Above all, Michael was a devoted father to his sons, Brendan and Ryan Jennings, and a loving grandfather to 19-month-old Brixton Liam Jennings. He offered unwavering support at their sports practices and games, and his affectionate, playful nature underscored his deep commitment to his entire family. Michael's kindness extended to animals, particularly the dogs he cherished, for whom he always had treats on the ready and provided frequent belly rubs.

In retirement, Michael turned to writing, authoring three romance novels, "Flight Surgeon", "Missing You," and "Reflections of Me," as well as a collection of his poetry, showcasing his romantic soul and creative talent.

Michael's enduring legacy is carried on by his sons, Ryan and Brendan Jennings; Brendan's partner, Aarin Hartwell, and their son, Brixton; Ryan's partner, Kristine San Buenaventura, and her daughter, Harlow; his first wife, Patricia Jennings, mother of Ryan and Brendan; his second wife, Mary Stevenson, and her family; his long-term partner, Barbara Rosen and their dog, Dakota; his twin sister, Pat Locke; sister, Theresa Wheat; brothers, Walt, Jim, Steven, Richard, Larry, and David, and their families; along with many cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his beloved parents, Agnes and Walter Jennings, and siblings, Kathy Moss and Sharon Heimbigner.

Honoring Michael's wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service to celebrate his extraordinary life and legacy will be organized for close family and friends at a future date, with details forthcoming. This service will celebrate a man who was a beacon of strength, love, and creativity.

Michael Jennings will always be remembered as a dedicated father, a passionate romantic, and a compassionate friend to all creatures. His memory will be treasured and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Brenden and Ryan, I met your dad when he bought a home from us at Point Edwards in Edmonds. Albeit unusual for the developer and Buyer to become friends, we sure did. I enjoyed his newsletters and our conversations over the years. We visited with each other when he lived in the Phoenix area, a treasured visit for me.

I can honestly tell you that we never had a conversation where he didn't talk about his great love and pride of you two men, his sons, he loved so much.

I know this is a great loss for all but I am happy he is free.

Blessings,

Ross Woods

Sending my love and condolences. I always enjoyed our family gatherings, both big and small. Uncle Michael was always there with something to say, to poke fun at someone and always provide a laugh, there was always laughing. On to read another one of his books Jessica Jennings Andahl and family

Your father and I never met, yet we'd known each other for years. I guess you would say we were e-Pen Pals for many years and then FaceBook came along. When I was writing all the time, he was a great person to bounce ideas off of and he was always encouraging me to continue.
I am truly grateful to have met such an endearing person and to have had this friend since the days of AOL dial-up. LOL. Yes, we were friends THAT LONG!
I'm sorry to hear about Michael's passing. What a wonderful human being. He will be missed greatly.
