LATIMORE MICHAEL DARNELL "MIKEY"
1962-2012. "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal" Unknown. Michael Darnell "Mikey" Latimore was born on October 8, 1962. He was one of four children born to the parents of Dorothy Smith and Albert Latimore. During his youth, he attended Holy Rosary Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA. Several years later, he left Pittsburgh, PA to attend High School in North Carolina. In June 1980, he graduated from Gardner High School in Gardner, North Carolina. Michael returned home to Pittsburgh to attend Robert Morris University to pursue a Certificate Degree in Business Communications. Beginning in 1967, at the tender age of five, Michael was formally introduced to the trucking industry. At the age of 11, he began his career as an errand boy with AAA Hauling Company, which is presently known as the Anthony Phillips Trucking Company. Mr. Phillips is a very successful business man in his own right and was a tremendous father figure and a great influence with assisting Michael making the future career choices in his life. As his passion and love grew for the trucking industry, he began to embark upon an opportunity to advance toward becoming an entrepreneur. In 1990, Michael formed a co-partnership with Mr. Rocco Contristano, owner of the Contristano Trucking Company. He remained in partnership with Mr. Contristano until 1992. Later that same year, he was introduced to the late Mr. Ron August, owner of the August Transport Company. Mr. August was very instrumental with helping Michael to later form the Latimore Trucking and Supply Company in the summer of 1992. Which he later became one of the largest and successful minority-owned businesses in Western Pennsylvania. "Mikey" was introduced to the Lord at the very young age of four. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Homewood, PA. He also attended the Good Shepard Church in Braddock, PA. His faith, spirituality and time for mediation were important aspects of his daily life. Known affectionately as "Mikey" by family and close friends, he enjoyed life to the fullest extent. He loved animals and enjoyed listening to music, playing chess, and traveling extensively as well as lavishly. His favorite past time was watching sporting events of all kinds, he also enjoyed eating Halloween Trick or Treats. Michael was called home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 13, 2012. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Smith; father, Albert Latimore; great-grandfather, James Alston; grandparents, Lillie Mae Byrd and Samuel Byrd; brother, Edward Latimore, Sr.; aunt, Irene Duke; uncle, Harry Duke; cousins, "Grandma Edna" Widdit, Renee Alston and Maurice Alston, formerly of Raleigh, North Carolina. "Mikey" leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving wife, Kimberly; one daughter, Aishia; two sons, Michael and Joshua; his uncle, Charles Byrd; aunt, Sheila Byrd, and the Byrd family; one brother, Steven Latimore; one sister, Shelley Latimore; mother-in-law, Zenobia L. Foster; brother-in-law, Richard C. Foster (Amanda); and sister-in-law, Princess M. To the Latimore Family
I was saddended to hear of the passing of Mike. Although I had done business with Mike over several years, we had not spoken recently, until a couple of weeks ago. He let me know then about his health challenges. He will be missed by both his friends and business associates.

I grew up with Michael in Homewood and went to Holy Rosary with him. He was one of the few in my class that I would see regularly through the years. He was a good friend to me and my family - I was so sad to hear that he passed away. Peace and prayers to the family.
