It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dearest beloved, MICHAEL S. LUCERO, age 41 of Las Cruces on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 12, 1975 in Las Cruces to Arturo Gomez Vega and Genevieve Valenzuela. At the time of his death, Michael was a Medical Technician and a member of the Las Cruces First Assembly of God. He was a devout Dallas Cowboy fan who loved his annual trip to watch the Cowboys play, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. His passion in life was spending time with family and friends; watching his children play sports as well as coaching his son William’s soccer team.
Those left to mourn his passing include his fiancée, Richelle De La O of the family home; two sons, William Frank and Dallas Damien Lucero; two daughters, Jenna Ramos and Ashlynn Lucero; his father, Arturo Vega; his stepfather who raised him, Rudy Lucero; two brothers, Arthur Lucero (Carmen F.), Matthew Valenzuela; two sisters, Nancy Herrera (Matthew), Mary Lou Rodriguez (Michael) all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include his extended family, Rebecca (Ernest Salas), Isaac, Jennifer, Yvette (Randy Delgado), Ernestine, Ernest Sr., Ernie Jr. (Beverly) and Anthony (Julie) De La O as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve Lucero; his best friend and brother, William Lucero; his brother, Rudy “Chava” Lucero, and his father-in-law, Frank De La O.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 6 PM Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Las Cruces First Assembly of God, 5605 Bataan Memorial West with Pastors Bob Ortega and Jay Wisner officiating. Cremation will follow and Inurnment of Cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Brian Cooper, Richard Hanway, Michael Rodriguez, Ernest De La O Sr., Isaac De La O and Art Badillo. Honorary bearers will be Jessica Camunez, Matthew Herrera, Mario Vega, Jeffrey Borunda, Ernie De La O Jr., Sammy “Kiddo” Saenz, Jerome Hanway, David Tellez, Mando Esparza and Arturo Monjarez.

We know youre there in His presence and one day we will all be together again in His glory. We continue to love on Richelle, Ashlynn, Jenna, William and little Dallas.
