Michael J. Mackey

06/06/1979 - 08/16/2021

Michael J Mackey, 42, left us peacefully on August 16, 2021, with his mom and children by his side.

Michael was born June 6, 1979 in Bountiful, Utah to Crystal Mackey. He attended elementary school in Magna and secondary school in Heber Utah. When, he was 18 months old he was blessed with an amazing dad, Tim Cahill. As a child, Michael was your typical boy. He loved riding dirt bikes, hunting with his dad, and being outdoors. He grew a love for being in the mountains and surrounded by nature is where he always felt connected.

Michael was a warrior, after a tragic fire put him in the hospital for 5 months, he miraculously survived. We know he pushed through, because of the love he had for his kids; they were his heart and what gave him strength. He was a friend that everyone could count on, he was always willing to help anybody in need. He had a big heart and love for everyone that was in his life. He loved mother nature, and exploring the outdoors and crystal hunting. He gifted many of his loved ones with beautiful creations that he made out of crystals. He worked at Jordanelle Marina as a boat mechanic and was lucky to have a job where he thrived. He really enjoyed the people that he met and made lasting friendships with them. Michael loved being around people and was happy to help in any way that he could at the lake.

He is survived by his children, Tayler (Keno) Mecham, Jerome (Drew) Gardner, Maleya Mackey, Xavier (Payton) Mackey, Mikey Smith, and Maddison Mackey; his loving mom, Crystal (Gary) Tuter; sisters, Rebecca (Eric) Kemmer, and Maria (James) Rivera; along with many loving aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Timothy Cahill; Grandma, Molly Cahill (who he had a very special bond with); Grandpa, Albert Cahill; Grandpa, Tom Mackey; Grandma, Grace Mackey; Grandma, Pat Simpson; and loyal dog, Blue dog.

We will have a celebration of life for Michael at a later date.
