Sometimes at night,
when i lay down to sleep,
i embrace myself,
I start to think...
Then i imagine
that you lie beside me...
I wish you could really be here,
just to whisper,
"I love you," in my ear.
I would turn around and say,
"I love you,too."
But it will never be true...
So i close my eyes and picture
your face...
I fall asleep dreaming of you.
In my dreams it seems so true.
It's as if i can really feel
your kisses against my lips...
Then my eyes pop open and
your nowhere to be seen,and
i feel so lonley once again.
I miss you Mike

Mike will be missed by many. He was a great guy and was always there with a smirk or smile for you and I am lucky to have gotten to know him and to be able to call him a friend.
My heart goes out to his family for their loss but hope they cherish all the great memories and the last few years spent with him.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I had the pleasure of playing with "Beaver" for three season's in Fresno. Beav and I had some great times together, especially when we won the Championship. He will be truly missed.

To the Mathers family, thank you so much for sharing a little bit of sunshine with all of us in California, even if just for a short time. Mike (and his smirk) will always be remembered. I am sure that he left you all with so many memories that will bring warmth to your heart just when you need it. I will always cherish the fact that I was lucky enough to know such a wonderful person. God bless!

I grew up around Mike and the guys when he was playing in Fresno and even though I am older now, I will always remember his kindness and most of all his smile. Even though at times people misunderstood Mike, he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He may be gone, but that grin will live on forever. May God be with his family in this difficult time.

I had the pleasure to grow up with Mike in St. Albert and we were in the same graduating class from Bellerose Composite High School in 1990.
Mike was always a friendly but quiet guy that always had a smile on his face, even during Mr. Diefentaler's social class...
I was shocked and saddened to hear about Mike's passing this week. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they cope with the loss of their son, brother and friend.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Mike. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Mather family, and I'm sorry I can't be there with you to say good bye.
I had the honour of skating along side Mike for several years and I am proud to say he was my favorite player to play with. And although we didn't keep in touch over the past few years, Mike was the type of friend I could meet up with and it was like we had never been apart. I will miss him. May God comfort your family in this time of mourning.

I'm very sorry to hear this news. I saw Mike last at the Memorial Cup reunion in Kamloops during the summer of 2002 and as always, it was a pleasure to be reunited with good friends. My heart goes out to Mike's parents and close family in their time of grieving and I hope knowing what an important part of our lives Mike was growing up provides some measure of comfort. I say this on my own behalf and on behalf of Mike's teammates that played in Kamloops, and I suspect these words, or better, are echoed among those who had the joy of being on Mike's team. He will be missed.
