The news of Mike's passing saddens me. I was an undergraduate at ASU in the late 1970s Mike taught me COM100 (and gave me a B...for good reason) and the research methods class. He was a very helpful teacher who was willing to guide me when I really needed it. Three decades later, I returned to ASU as a faculty member and was able to work with Mike until he retired. He was the same helpful soul and great teacher.

Sending my condolences to Mike's friends and family. When I began working as a professor at ASU in 2000, Mike was a friendly informal mentor and senior professor. I feel thankful for our time together. -- Sarah Tracy

Hi John,
I worked with Mike at ASU. He was an amazing professor and a supportive colleague and friend. My deepest condolences to you.

My deepest sympathy John. I loved Michael so much; he and I enjoyed our time together during our visits to a Denver or the Mayers trips to St. Joe for the holidays. I just wish we´d got together recently. Love you, Michael, rest in peace.
