Michael "Mike" Douglas Crist

Michael "Mike" Manila, Philippines Douglas Crist Michael Crist, age 49, of Fortville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 following a brief illness. He was born on January 14, 1974 in Greenfield, Indiana to his parents, Dennis Crist and Patricia (Goen) Miller.

Growing up in Fortville, Michael had a passion for baseball and spent every summer on the local baseball diamonds. His passion for baseball led his pursuit to make a career as an umpire which culminated in his officiating NCAA Division 1 baseball and winter instructional leagues while also filling his calendar as a referee for basketball and football. His officiating career took him from local to international competitions in 45 US states and 20 countries.

After his officiating career ended Michael went back to school taking college classes while substituting at his alma mater, Mt. Vernon School System. Once he obtained his master's degree from Western Governors University he embarked on his second career with Convergys in Oklahoma. There he was given the opportunity to transfer with Convergys to the Philippines where he lived since 2012. Michael loved to travel and was quick to make friends along the way with his easy going personality and a smile like no other. The proudest day of his way too short life was the day he became a father to his beautiful daughter Jasmine Ivy on 7 March 2013. He cherished every moment that he was able to spend with his precious daughter.

Those left to carry on Michael's legacy are his daughter Jasmine Ivy Crist (residing with her mother Eraiza in the Philippines); his parents Dennis (Cindy) Crist and Patricia (William) Miller; his siblings Darin Crist, Brian (Elizabeth) Crist, and Anthony Crist; his maternal grandmother Betty Goen along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be missed by many friends and chosen family in the Philippines and around the world.

Michael was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Charles Crist and Dorotha (Arthur) Clark; Maternal Grandfather, Noble Goen.
