Michael Lee Mock

Dr. Michael L. Mock, DDS

December 2, 1952- February 23, 2023

Having lived an adventure-filled life, Dr. Michael (Doc) L. Mock rests in peace.

Born on December 2, 1952, to the late B.H. and Mary Mock of Lewisville, NC, Mike attended West Forsyth High School. Upon graduation, he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1978 first in his class from the school of dentistry. It was there where he met his future bride of 42 years, Jan Elizabeth Atkins. They were married in Mt. Pleasant in 1979.

Doc owned, built and maintained a successful, private, dental practice on Main Street in Mount Pleasant for 36 years. Upon retirement, he worked with Zsambeky & Associates and as a fill in for numerous dentists in the area. He was often an adept surgeon stitching up more than a few friends and relatives when the situation warranted.

Mike enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, which included, but are not limited to fishing, ham radio, playing musical instruments, Civil War reenactments, horses, jazz music, gardening, and moonshine drinking; his true joy was riding through the mountains on his Harley with his friends.

His brilliant mind was masked by his down to earth demeanor, which allowed him to be able to talk to anyone, about nearly, everything.

He was an incredibly proud father of Elizabeth Leigh (Tim) Parker and Jonathan Lee (Teresa) Mock; his grandchildren Avery, Mia, and Bohannon Mock were the sunshine in his life. Jan passed in November 2021.

Mike leaves his sister Pamela (David) Langill and their children Christina Mason, Laura Boyles and Kevin Langill; brother Wayne (Sandra)Mock and their sons Tyler Mock and Riley Mock.

The Atkins family and the family of his partner Wendy Hatten Murray also mourn his loss.
