Michael Richard Moder

Michael R. Moder was born on April 25, 1936 in North Hollywood to Richard "Dick" Moder and Mary Fritzlen Moder. He passed peacefully at his home in Nipomo, CA on August 15, 2022.
Mike graduated from Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles in 1954. He was recruited on a full basketball scholarship to Loyola University, where he was a gifted power forward.  Mike graduated from Loyola in 1958 with a degree in Political Science. 
Beyond college, he involved himself competitively with basketball, football, and tennis, and was still an avid golfer at 86.
In 1958, Mike married Patricia Ann Watz, his high school sweetheart, and they raised five children together.  They were happily married for forty-two years, until her unexpected passing in 2001. 
Mike began his film career in 1960 as an assistant director, working on TV shows such as The Rifleman, The Big Valley and The Wild, Wild West.  As he transitioned into feature films, some of his most memorable productions included Little Big Man, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, and Up in Smoke.  Mike associate produced Jeremiah Johnson, California Dreaming, Summer Lovers and Executive produced Beverly Hills Cop, Songwriter and Crimson Tide.
Mike became the Executive in Charge of Production for Viacom overseeing many television productions including Blind Ambition, Perry Mason, Jake and The Fat Man and Matlock.
Mike was the happiest tending to his garden, reading, and then finding his way down to the beach to enjoy time with friends and family.  He had a beautiful voice, was a self-taught guitar player, and composed many songs.  He regaled his family and friends regularly with great stories from his days on the movie sets.
Mike married Marisa Megurian in 2003. They divided their time between Indian Wells, CA and Seaside, OR for several years before settling in Nipomo, CA. 
Mike is survived by his wife, Marisa, his five children, Debbi (Steve), Jane (Phil), John, Jyl, and Danny (Julia), his nine grandchildren, Nick (Jenny), Tom, Alex, Ian, Olivia, Grace, Hazel, Finn, and Henry, and his two great-grandchildren, Cason and Cameron, and his brother, Steve (Lauren). 
He was predeceased by his beloved dog, Redford, and survived by his faithful companion, Elliott.
