Michael Nauer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 7, 2005.
Nauer Michael Dixon Nauer, 53, of Minneapolis, passed away February 11, 2005. An Ohio native, Mike had been a resident of Mpls for many years. Here he established a wide circle of friends through his work at West Photo and his numerous avocations including photography, bird watching, climbing, skiing, sailing, history, music, and carpentry. Mike was an irreplaceable presence in the lives of his loved ones. He is sadly missed by his mother, Margery Nauer, of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Amy Carthon, nieces, Antonia and Alison Carthon, and nephew, Adam Carthon of Big Bear City, CA; aunt, Muriel Unwin, of Easton, MD; cousins, Bill Unwin of Queens, NY, and Nancy Shirley of Port. St. Lucie, FL; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Nauer. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Orbit Studio, 3805 Washington Ave. N. in Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mpls Park & Recreation Board's Gift Memorial Program; gifts will be dedicated to the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary. Life is eternal; love is immortal; and death is only a horizon.

Missing a good friend who I didn't see enough of, who saved my life in 88 rock climbing at St. Croix. Thinking of that I recall fishing him out of crevass with Tom Gordon high up on Mt. Ranier several years earlier. A fine bright hearted piece of earth and sky he was, love is the continuing force. miss ya buddy.

Michael's Poem

A hollow in my prayers

since you left

fills with sorrow,

fills with you,

loved by many,

gone into the mystery.

Michael was the love of my life, pure and simple. I can't stop thinking of you and perhaps I never will. Rest in peace, my love. Our planned reunion did not happen soon enough.

I will alway remember Mike's smile. He started working at West Photo when I was only 15 and do not remember one time that he didn't give me the biggest smile when I looked at him. No matter what his mood, Mike smiled at me.

As simple as that is, this is something I admire him for and I wish I could be more like him in that way.

He will be missed by all that knew him.
