Michael O'Meara Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 5, 2025.
Michael Shannon "Mike" O'Meara, age 72, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A proud Minnesotan through and through, Mike was born on June 28, 1952, in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Mike's early years were marked by a strong sense of discipline and athleticism. He attended Marshall High School, where he distinguished himself as an All-State football player-an achievement that reflected both his natural talent and unwavering determination. After high school, Mike answered the call to serve his country. In the early 1970s, he spent three years aboard a U.S. Navy ship stationed in the Mediterranean. His time in the Navy left a lasting impression on him and became a source of quiet pride throughout his life.

A devout Catholic, Mike's faith remained a guiding force throughout his journey. For over three decades, he made his home at Pursuit in Minneapolis. There, he became a beloved figure among both staff and fellow residents. Known affectionately as "Pops," Mike earned deep respect for his steady presence and kind demeanor. His warmth and good humor left an indelible mark on those around him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Pat O'Meara; mother Joan Munson; stepfather Jerry Munson; and brother Daniel O'Meara Munson.

He is survived by his sister Maureen (John) Berry; brothers Tom (Tammy) Munson and Dave (Marcia) Munson; along with two nephews and seven nieces who will carry forward memories of their uncle with love and gratitude.

May Michael Shannon O'Meara's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

There will be a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery, 500 Sunrise Drive on Saturday May 10th at 11:00 Am.
