Dear Josee and Children
I want to extend my deepest sympathies regarding the loss of "Mike".
None of you have ever met me but I became an unlikely friend to your father 12 years ago. I met him while he was out walking the dogs. I would walk all my children and dayhome children about the neighborhood and a chance meeting one day changed everything.
Over the last decade plus, your father and I would have impromptu meetings on sidewalks while we were both out for a stroll. When your fathers legs started to give him trouble and he took to his white car, he would pull up curbside and we would talk forever.
In those years I learned how Josee loved her gardening and visiting France, John retired hockey player and financial wizard in Detroit and of a daughter who lived in Toronto. Mike shared with me so many details of his life and that of his childrens lives. We shared the good times of raising families and the not so good times.
Mike became somewhat of a surrogate father figure and he bestowed some wisdom and courage in all our conversations.
I recall with sadness when he lost his pets and how he seemed lost without them to walk.
Your father was a wonderful man and he was proud of all of you. He spoke with such passion and love when he would tell me about each of your lives.
He was thrilled when he got his computer and on several occasions I helped him over the phone with it. I will miss the emailed jokes he use to send me.
A fixture in the community that I was so use to seeing is now gone. I will miss seeing that white car and he with his military jacket on cruising down the street and stopping to chat with me.
Your father was a wonderful man and he touched my life in such a unique way. Please know that I will miss him very much and was very honored to have known him.
God speed Mike and may you be reunited with your beloved pets.
