Michael Leftridge Powell Sr., age 74, passed away Wednesday December 19, 2018 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He was born 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Walter and Hazel Powell. Michael retired as a Master Sergeant after serving 20 years in the United States Air Force. He returned to work for the government as a contractor for BAE systems and retired a second time in 2006. Later in life he also developed a fascination for trains and he enjoyed taking rides and even collecting them. Michael leaves cherished memories to his two sons Michael L. Powell Jr. and Larry S. Powell (Sandy); sister Jan Whitenack (Doug); brothers Tommy Powell and Stephen Powell (Susan); grandchildren Candis Powell, Ann Marie Powell, Stephen Powell, and Zackary Powell. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, January 4, 2019 at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, Florida. The family will be receiving close friends at the home of Mike Powell from 5-8 pm following the services.
