Michael R. Brennan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 9, 2023.
BRENNAN, Michael R., of Cambridge, formerly of Philadelphia, PA and Blackwood NJ, passed away unexpectedly on November 7, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Robert F. Brennan and Elizabeth M. (Balkonis). Beloved husband of Elizabeth R. Brennan (Maloney) of Cambridge. Loving and proud father of Patrick M. Brennan of Cambridge. Dear brother of Elizabeth Mills and her husband Richard of FL, Nancy DiMeo and her husband Ralph of NJ, and the late Robert M. Brennan. Loving brother in law of Linda Brennan. Michael is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Mike was deeply committed to many things in life, but his family and friends were his highest priority. Although he traveled extensively and had made Cambridge his new home, he stayed closely connected to his Philadelphia area roots and the people there who shaped him. Intensely loyal, Mike managed to maintain his relationships across the miles because he always made time to go home to be with his friends and family.

His Shore House in NJ was a place where family and friends congregated. His parents and grandparents are surely proud that he continued this legacy for the family.

A proud season ticket holder, Mike spent many of his fall weekends in Philly, cheering on his beloved Eagles after tailgating with his friends.

Mike's Cambridge roots were set down in Paddy's, where he became affectionately known as "Philly Mike." There, he found true friendship and it was also there that he met his loving wife of 20 years.

Mike's ultimate joy in life was his son Patrick. They shared a love of sports which led to their participation in the West Cambridge Little Baseball League. Mike enjoyed coaching the kids in Cambridge for many years and he held the other coaches in the highest esteem. He was so proud to be a member of their community.

Mike will be missed by his peers and colleagues at Bright Horizons Family Solutions where he worked for 20 years. Mike was dedicated to his profession and truly loved going to work every day. His work ethic was admirable and he was committed to the growth of Bright Horizons.

Mike was a blessed man. He will be missed in all of his communities, by his kind neighbors on Lakeview Ave, his co-workers, his family and friends in Cambridge, New Jersey and Philadelphia.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 10th from 4-7PM at the Keefe Funeral Home, 2175 Massachusetts Ave. NORTH CAMBRIDGE. His Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 11th at 10am in St. Peter's Church, 100 Concord Avenue, Cambridge. Interment will follow in Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael Brennan Scholarship Fund, West Cambridge Little Baseball League. (https://www.leaguelineup.com/formpreview.asp?url=wclbl&formID=186034)

We had the privilege of being long time close friends with the Brennan Family. We first met Michael´s parents in the late 1950s. Becoming fast friends, we witnessed the birth of each other´s children and all the associated events that followed. The Brennan family were generous in sharing their Wildwood, NJ, summer home; and we visited and vacationed there with them often during Michael´s growth years. Our son, also Michael, played little league baseball together until they aged out.

One special memory was at the wedding of Michael and Buffy. To preface this, we witnessed Michael going through different girlfriends, none resulting in commitment. He knelt beside my chair and proceeded to tell me that the moment he saw Buffy, he knew she was the one. He was very discerning in that regard, and only settled for the best.

To say how sad we are about losing Michael is an understatement. We were extremely proud of him and will cherish our memories of him. Our sincerest condolences go out to Buffy and Patrick, and their families.

I met Mike my first day of work at Deloitte in 1991. We became friends that day all the way through his last day here with us. I had the privilege of sitting with him at the last Eagles game, laughing, telling stories and catching up on everything. Miss you bud. Take care of us down here for now.

Truly a remarkable man. I can't shake this one. Mike talked to you like his own family and he treated my wife and boys the same way. Buffy and Patrick, you have my deepest sympathy and of course the rest of the all the Brennan family. Going to miss all the sports chats about our teams. At a loss writing this, we going to truly miss you

Some losses in life hit the heart very very hard and this is one of them. I had the utmost pleasure and blessing of knowing and working with Mike at Bright Horizons. An amazingly caring person and fantastic co-worker. The real deal. We will miss him so much. Our sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

This one stings quite a bit. I´m trying to comprehend the fact that I won´t see or speak to him anymore. Mike Brennan was like another brother to me. I could always count on him and always went to him for advice. I looked up to him and admired his success, his family and his outlook on life. We shared experiences, terrific memories and more than anything laughs until we cried at times. He left behind a wonderful wife and son who I consider my family and love dearly. I´m heartbroken and miss my friend already. I´m know you are in heaven with Bobby, Gav and your mom and dad. Until we meet again "Bones". Love you pal
