Michael Rivers Obituary
Michael A. Rivers, 69 of Fitchburg, MA, passed away at his residence peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2022.
He was born in Fitchburg, MA June 9, 1952 the son of the late Charles J. Rivers Jr. and Dorothy (Blanchard) Rivers. He lived all of his life in Fitchburg.
He was a general contractor and owner of his own fencing Co. for many years. He also had an interest in Rivers Brothers of Fitchburg, Inc. where he worked with his son.
Michael was best described as a quiet man with a big sweet tooth, an open heart, a broad smile, and a quick wit, respected by all.
In recent years, Michael loved to spend time with family and friends - especially with his granddaughters Abigail and Remy whom he adored. He could often be found golfing with friends or at the shooting range with his son Brian ready to "go pull the trigger".
He had opportunities to travel to Alaska in 2018 with his wife (a lifelong dream fulfilled), to Idaho to visit family, and his most recent trip to San Francisco in 2021 to see his son Christopher whose last visit was in 2018. Michael's final years were full of memories not just for him but for all the people he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cynthia J. (Wood) Rivers, his two sons, Christopher M. Rivers of San Francisco, CA and Brian A. Rivers and partner Kylie Wright of Fitchburg, MA, two sisters, Sharon Reardon of Fitchburg, MA and Corrine Walker of Lancaster, MA, two grandchildren, Abigail Wright-Sedor and Remy Rivers along with many cousins, nieces ,and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Brian in 2005 and Matthew in 1983.
Calling hours for Mike will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the funeral home from 12 noon until 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at Donnelly's Tavern, 43 Summer St. Lunenburg, MA. All friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
A mask is suggested for visitation and the celebration of his life reception. Visit our web site to leave a message of condolence to his family.
In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice may be made in Mike's memory.
