Happy birthday, Mikey. I can't believe it's been 5 years since you left this world, and longer than that since I spoke to you. Even though the last time I spoke to you was when you called me from Iraq, I always looked for you. I have so much I want to say to you and knowing that I'll never have the chance to breaks my heart. I'll never forget how we met at Union station, how you used to sing old soul songs to me over the phone. You were tough but always felt comfortable telling me how you felt. I can only imagine the great man you would've grown to be at 29 years old. I don't want to believe you're gone. I keep thinking I just lost touch with you and you're out there being great and living your life. All these loving comments just show me how many lives you touched in your short time. I hope all your loved ones find peace and strength in God. I will always love you, until we meet again.

With this candle, I thank Mike for the treasured blessing he left behind - his legacy. Jeramih will forever hold the memory of his father. Be the best you can Son, you are perfect in every way and Daddy would be proud. As your father would always say, “I love you Son, you hear me; Daddy loves you.”
To the family of Mikey - thank you. We are blessed by all of the love and support you have showered us with. It means more than words can express and brings great comfort knowing that Jeramih will continue to know his father more and more as you all share your memories of Mikey with him. When he sees how much his father was loved, he will understand why he has such a burning love for him as well.
“God grant me the serenity to accept that I cannot change this, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.”
Amen

Man I miss u so much Mikey! It's still so hard to believe that I'm never gonna get another phone call from u...so much I need to talk to u about. Idk hw I'm gonna be strong enough to get Ma through her first Mothers Day without u tomorrow. I've never felt a pain so deep and for so long. I know it'll never go away but it will get easier one day. I cannot question GOD and ask why so I comfort myself with knowing you're in a better place and no more troubles of this world can come to you. I hope you're at peace lil brother...see you when I get there :-(

My deepest sympathy for your family during this difficult time. I will always remember you and what a kind person you were and I'll hold on to the memories of the time we shared in Colorado and Afghanistan. I'll always remember you as a battle buddy but most importantly, a friend. I'll miss you ROBO!

Thank you so much for the kind words from each of you. The final salute especially touched my heart. It was heart to read it without crying because Mikey was truly a great soldier. I remember some of the horror stories. He was so BRAVE and he was so protective of me. He loved his family. He was all about his family. He always wanted family around him whatever state he lived in. It is still unbelievable to me. Mikey was a warrior and he had to be caught off guard. He is sorely missed and will NEVER, EVER, EVER be forgotten. I thank God for his beautiful homeging service. I thank God for his life and I look to The Lord for healing during this difficult time. Thank you to you all again. Mikey's mother, Tracy

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Michael A. Robinson, Jr. our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Michael. And to Michael it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedoms while deployed with the U.S. Army. Michael, you are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Michael's family and loved ones.
