MICHAEL SANJENIS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 7, 2022.
SANJENIS--Michael L., died peacefully at home on June 5, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Born in Philadelphia he spent his childhood in Mexico City, Cuba and Miami, finally settling in New York City. Michael was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator and also attended the Top Gun school to learn to fly the F4 Phantom. His love of aviation continued as Captain of 747's and of his own private planes, flying as recently as November. Always evolving he earned his MBA from NYU and his Law Degree from University of Miami, from where he graduated. He was an adventurer and an intellectual. He is survived by his wife, Juliet, his daughter, Danielle, his sons, Kenneth, Christopher and the late David, their spouses, Jack, Farrah and Dianne, his brothers, Pat and Danny and his adored seven grandchildren. In Michael's own words, "If the fates allow, I will get into the cockpit and climb into the clouds; I'll look down at the Good Earth below and I'll be at Peace with the World!" He will be greatly missed, "Here's looking at you kid." Friends may call at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Avenue on Thursday, June 9th from 4-7pm.

I was deeply saddened to learn of my dear friend Mike's passing. He was certainly one in a million and will be greatly missed.
Together we enjoyed a wonderful friendship sharing our admiration for the United States Navy.
Hearing about his many interesting flight experiences and adventures was always so special to me.
Sending my sincere condolences to his lovely wife Julie and family.
Rest in peace now Lieutenant Mike.
Until we meet again,
Commander Mac

MIguel MIguel. Our special friendship which started at the NYAC 22 years ago when I started my "deep dive" into Cuba and the Dominican Republic. You gave me so much insight and support. Every day I would see you at the NYAC and you lit up as you heard my efforts to speak Spanish with you and listened to my travels. You were nothing but smiles. Your support of the Charles Decker Foundation and the children we help in the Domincian Republic puts you in a special category for me. I will never forget showing you the video I made of your family home in Havana, with the video clip at the end of the school children "Hola Miguel--Come back soon!" and the Compay Segundo sound track.
I flick my lights when I pass the Carrier Intrepid and tell whoever is with me "my special buddy Mike flew off of that" "You are my hero and special friend" Siempre.
