Mike and I met in high school and remained friends for many years after. Later, every time I visited Ottawa on my way to and from other places, we would inevitably run into each other.
I always looked forward to those karmic encounters and am deeply saddened to find out that there will never be another.
Thankfully he had spirit enough for all of us to carry.

I just saw this notice. I'm in shock. I knew Mike from high school and lost touch when I moved from the Ottawa area. He was there for me when my brother passes and for that I will always be thankful. He was a special man.

I have often wanted to get in touch with those from long ago. I am saddened to only just find out about your loss! Mike stood out in my mind because he was very charismatic! Such a nice person. My wishes go out to the whole family.

Thanks for your comments Debby, I'm always glad to hear from Mike's old acquaintances. It reassures me that he has not been forgotten. I'm even more glad that you found Mike through the Guest Book and took a moment to make an entry. Mike touched so many people in his life and their thoughts contained in this Guest Book are truly heart-warming.

This has hit me harder than I could have imagined, this past week, since I tried to find an old friend only to find him gone... My heart goes out to all who loved him, then and still. I thank those responsible for keeping this memorial site open these past 5 years.

It's hard to believe that it's been a year since Mike left us. It seems just like yesterday that we were clinking glasses at Gerry's.
I visited Mike at the hospital last Christmas and pictures were taken. I would sincerely like to have a copy of the one of me with Mike, if Mike's family would like to forward it to me. Please contact me at [email protected].

I've only just learned of Mike's passing, and I wanted his family to know that he touched my life very deeply.
I met Mike at the Chateau Lafayette a life time ago. There was a very large group of us back then -- we were all so young. We'd meet often, talk about our day, plan some event, gossip, argue -- all the things that friends do.
And miraculously, we all stayed connected to one another for a very long time.
I bumped into Mike one afternoon last year, just before I left Ottawa and moved to Regina -- he gave me one of his famous bear hugs and wished me well. Its a moment now that I'll always cherish.

The days have passed, the years have gone by,
The sun shone brightly, each day, as the birds flew gracefully, in the sky.
We cherished every moment, with hope, and with care,
But unfortunately life, can sometimes be so unfair.
Micheal was the one, fighting hard, for a while,
He would try his best each day, working with a smile.
The one that we all cared, had to suffer some pain.
But now we can all know, that peace, was all he had wanted to gain.
We can be thankful to God, that He is there besde him, up from above.
Micheal will always know, that we all prayed for him, with great love.

Mr. and Mrs Schultes and Leona You are in Our Thoughts and Prayers my Family and I are so Saddened by the passing of Michael. Our First Meeting was in the General Hospital when My Dad (Gary) became Michael's Room mate. I remember the first time meeting Michael and thinking what a wonderful smile and that Laugh what can i say he made me and my Dad Chuckle along with him, even when things were so sad.
