MICHAEL DOUGLAS SINCLAIR October 31, 1948 - November 11, 2022 It is with deep sadness that Michael's family announces his passing on Friday, November 11, 2022 following a brief battle with pneumonia and related complications. Michael passed while vacationing in one of his favourite places on earth, New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He was loved and cherished as a dedicated husband, a supportive and patient stepfather, an enthusiastic grandfather (Papa), a caring brother and uncle, and a loyal friend to many. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 40 years, Vera; children, Julia (Curtis) Gallagher and John (Joanna Inverso) Braun; grandchildren, Patrick, Ethan, Lindsey and Alessia; brother, John (Sue) Sinclair; as well as numerous friends and relatives. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Doug and Elizabeth Sinclair; and his sister, Carol Leier. Born in Toronto, Ontario on October 31, 1948, Michael was a proud alumnus of Lawrence Park High School and McMaster University. His lifelong career in the insurance brokerage and financial planning industry began with Manulife - a company he remained with for 45 years. His professional achievements and accolades include, among many others, his appointment as one of a select few Manulife Five Star Master Builders. Michael had a passion for traveling, good food and wine, old movies, a dry martini, and time spent with family and friends. He forged lifelong friendships as a member and active congregant of Oakville's Chartwell Baptist Church and generously supported and donated his time to many Toronto area charities. Kerr St. Mission was one of his favourites where he was a proud sponsor of this special organization's annual golf tournament. Michael's family was his first priority. His love, friendship and active involvement in their lives is his proudest legacy. As his adoring grandchildren put it - "The Best Papa Ever!" His selfless commitment to making a difference in the lives of his family, colleagues, friends and the less fortunate set Michael apart. He was an engaging, sincere, compassionate, and generous man who, simply put, made life better for those lucky enough to have known him. Missing Michael is a given, remembering him with love, respect and admiration is our privilege. Vera and the family wish to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Advent Health, New Smyrna Beach for their amazing guidance, care and compassion.
