SKOLSKI, Michael On May 16, 2004, Michael Skolski of Edmonton passed away at the age of 78 years. Mike is survived and will be fondly missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary; his sons, Brian(Cindy),and Pat (Patti); grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole and Laurenne; his sister, Halley (Robert)Pokorski; his uncle, Peter Skolski of Innisfree and aunt, Pearl Skolski of Victoria, BC. His numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Mike leaves behind his favorite canine companion, Gable. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Julia Skolski; and brother-in-law, John Chychul. Mike had a zest for life; a great sense of humour, and his quick wit would always leave a person smiling. Mike enjoyed baseball, international hockey, horse racing, bingo, music, reading, and debating current events. The joys of his life were his three grandchildren. Drawing pictures with Ryan and watching Nicole and Laurenne perform their dance and comedy skits. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of 5 AB at the General Continuing Care Centre for the wonderful care and attention that Mike received. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held Wednesday, May 19 at 11:30 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue. Cremation has taken place in the Park Memorial Crematorium.Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society, Alberta and NWT Division, #307, 10109 - 106 Street, Edmonton, AB T5J 3L7 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 10985 - 124 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 9Z9.
