Michael James Stanly, 71, of St. Cloud, MN, passed away on Jan.12, 2025 of cardiac failure.

He was preceded in death by parents Hugh and Doris Stanly and brother Doug.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Stanly; brother David; children Benjamin (Brittany) Stanly, Leah Stanly (partner Matt Caldwell), Drew Stanly (Hannah), and Hannah Stanly; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was born on Sept. 28, 1953, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to parents Hugh and Doris Stanly. He graduated with a business degree from Louisiana State University and went on to receive an MBA from Northwestern University. Mike's career in business consulting and supply chain management spanned over 40 years. He worked for Pillsbury, International Multifoods, McKinsey, IBM, Grant Thornton, and Centra Care MN.

He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding positions of leadership and service.

Mike had a lust for learning, was a voracious reader of biographies, poetry and history. He enjoyed traveling and learning about different cultures and religions. He was an avid genealogist. He was a lover of all things outdoors - running, cycling, hiking, skiing, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. His favorite activity was a walk in the woods, which gave him respite and a recharge.

Mike was a loving brother, father, husband, and devoted grandfather. He will be best known in his family for his self-discipline, his acts of service, and most of all his phenomenal story-telling at bedtime.

A memorial service for Mike will be held on Sat., Feb. 15 from 3-5 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1420 29th Avenue North, St. Cloud, MN.
