Michael Lynn Sturgeon, 64, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Born October
7, 1951 in Owensboro, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Ethel Galloway Sturgeon and was a
member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 1969
where he played football and baseball and was a member of the 1969 State Championship Baseball
Team. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he was a
member of their baseball team and a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. After college he came
home to work at the family owned business Sturgeon Pontiac and Nissan. When it closed, he owned and
operated Ever Day Laundry.
Mike's greatest love and pride was his son Cole. Mike began coaching at Southern Little League when Cole was 3 years old. The game was their bond, and it only became stronger as the years passed. But Mike was more proud of the person he had become away from the game. Beside coaching and watching his son play baseball, Mike enjoyed horse racing and his weekly lunch with his brothers. Mike had a very charismatic personality that allowed him to connect instantly with many people. He was loved by his many friends, family, and the kids he coached. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his son Cole Michael Sturgeon of Owensboro; brothers, Hugh Carroll (Pat) Sturgeon and Charles E. Sturgeon of Owensboro; a sister, Betty (Charles) Webb of Batesville, AR; six nieces and two nephews.
Memorial service will be 12 noon, Monday, November 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tim McGuire officiating. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

I'm sorry I just learned about this. Mike and I were not close friends by any means, but we knew each other in school. I've been following his son Cole's baseball career for a while now, especially since he went into the Red Sox system (I'm a Sox fan) -- saw him in a spring-training game today. I'd been looking forward to seeing MIke at the upcoming reunion, to tell him about stumbling on Cole on ESPN pitching in the Little League regional game back in 2004. Beyond sorry that can't happen.

Cole, Betty, Sonny, and Snook,I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mike's death. He has left you much too soon.He was a great dad and brother. My most vivid memory of him was our family trip out west when he was about 6 or 7 and how we had to corral Darla and him at every stop.My thoughts are with all of you. My God hold you in the palm of His hand.
