Michael Sullivan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2024.
Michael Eugene Sullivan, 69, of Yerington, NV, passed away peacefully with his wife, family & friends by his side on September 14, 2024. Born on August 30, 1955, affectionately known to friends & family as, Mike. He was a special part of his community and loved giving back.

Mike attended Brethren Elementary & graduated from Santa Fe High School, his favorite subject was wood shop. He was a true cowboy, a lover of all things outdoors and loved to make people laugh.

Mike's career spanned various roles that reflected his diverse interests and strong work ethic. He spent over two decades as a Heat Treater at City Steel, followed by 8 years as a cowboy and cattleman, embracing the rugged outdoor life he so loved. Later, he shifted to a more communal role, managing the Attic Thrift Store for the Boys & Girls Club for 14 years, where he was not just a manager, but a mentor and friend to many in the community.

Known for his humor and kindness, Mike was a friend to many and loved his family, his 2 dogs and his wife, Yvonne. His hobbies were as adventurous as his spirit; including falconry, surfing, fishing, hiking, riding horses, bull riding, snake hunting, and devoted many hours to cleaning up the desert, reflecting his deep respect for nature. He loved spending time on his front porch visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne; nephew Ricky W. Sullivan, Jr., his wife Tanya and their children Nathan, Sandra & Phoenix. ; niece Lindsey Holmes and her husband Jamie; and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Nina Sullivan, and his brothers Clint Sullivan and Ricky W. Sullivan, Sr.

Mike loved the Lord, it's comforting to know that we will all be together someday in Heavens' gardens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Boys & Girls Club of Mason Valley at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, where friends and family will gather to remember a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and an enduring spirit of adventure.

In lieu of flowers, donations made directly to Mike's wife are appreciated to plant a memorial tree in Mike's honor.

I will always remember his laugh, Mike and I were friends when we were teenagers. He taught me about falconry and enjoying life. Even though I have not seen him in quite a few years, he has always been in my mind as a great friend. He will be missed. Becky Vallejo

I had so many special memories with Mike that's it's hard to pick out just one. We were at the 1974 Condor watch and Mike had told me it wouldn't be very cold so I wore warm weather clothes and had forgot my sleeping bag. Mike stayed up with me in my truck all night because it dropped down close to freezing and we thought it was too cold to try and sleep. We told a lot of stories that night and Mike sang along with me while I played my guitar all night long
