Michael C. Sutphin

Michael Carl Sutphin, 53, of Albemarle, died Saturday, August 22, 2009, at local hospital.

Born October 9, 1955, in Charlottesville, he was the son of Elsie Moorehouse Sutphin and the late Cliff Carl Sutphin.

Mike retired from the University of Virginia Facilities Management after many years of service.

In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his fiance', Jean Kindrick of Albemarle; his brother, Charles Thomas Sutphin and his wife, Kimberly, of Troy; his sister, Patricia Ann Kirby and her husband, Bill, of Gloucester; an uncle, Sam Sutphin and his wife, Jenny, of Troy; a cousin, Edward Sutphin of Stephens City; a niece, Rebecca Sutphin; and a nephew, Cliff Sutphin.

A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the chapel of the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions in Mike's name be made to the Monticello Fire and Rescue Station, 25 Mill Creek Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
