I met Mike when he was president of the Young Democrats at ODU. He and I went on many trips across the state in my convertible enjoying the breezes. The crushing blow for us was the McGovern and Spong defeat. During all of this turmoil, Mike never spoke in angry or ill well. Jo Anna, his new bride, will remember me as the third wheel. I will miss him.

Mr. Tremper was my insurance agent for many years and most recently in June helped me with my mother's passing. He was more than an advisor, he became a friend and a welcomed voice in person or over the phone. He will be deeply missed. My condolences to his family and friends. Ethel L. Bullock ( Suffolk, VA)

The years I worked at MetLife were better years after Mike joined us. You only meet a man like Mike a few times in your life. I will treasure his friendship for years to come. I called him a few weeks ago to talk about the Optimist Club. He loved that organization like he loved everything in life. Heaven is going to be a better place now. My heart goes out to JoAnn and the children.

How sad I was to hear of Mike's passing. How blessed I was to have known & worked with such a sweet godly man at MetLife. His love of life and serving others showed in his Christian attitude. I will forever remember his daily words to me, "Every day Miss Donna, is a good day." what a wonderful contagious attitude he had.

I went to high school with Mike at St. Vincent Central in Newport News. He was truly one of the nicest gentlemen I had ever met in my life. He would do anything for you at any time. I always felt so comfortable around him and I knew that he would always be there to help me in any way he could. He was a great leader, a versatile athlete, and, most importantly, just a genuinely nice person. I am still in total denial that he is now gone forever. I guess God needed a good right hand man to help Him out Up There. We'll miss ya, Mike. Thanks for everything.

Mike and I were in home room together my four years at St. Vincents Central High School in Newport News. We played varsity baseball together as well. Mike and his brother Joe were terrific ball players and all around great guys, Mike especially so. After we graduated I would see Mike from time to time in church and it was always great to see him and catch up on what was happening with each of our families. Mike was a wonderful and caring Christian gentleman in every sense of the term. He and his family are in my daily prayers.

When I first started at MetLife, I sat near Mike. Being new, I would often have questions. He was always very helpful and would drop everything to assist me. Keep in mind, it was not his job to help me. He did not get paid to help me. In fact, it took away from his own productivity. I always told him how much I appreciated it. His response was "I don't mind a bit; glad I could help." From his charities to his community service, that is how Mike lived his life. Doing things for others came natural for Mike.
It has been said that we should try to leave the world a little better than we found it. Mike Tremper gets an A+ in that department.
