Michael Turko, 82, of 1339 Sixth Ave., Ford City died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township.

He was born Sept. 19, 1920 in Ford City to Frank and Helen (Elash) Turko. Mr. Turko was an electrician at the former Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries, Ford City, having 36 years of service. He was a PIAA Basketball Official for 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Church, Ford City. An Army veteran he served during World War II. His other memberships included the Ukrainian National Association, where he was a past secretary. He enjoyed sports; working in his garden; and picking wild mushrooms. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Survivors include one son, Michael Stephen Turko of Ford City; one daughter, Camille Marcinek of Kittanning; five grandchildren, Jason Marcinek, Claude Bailey, Andrew Bailey, Ryan Bailey and Lynette Turko; one brother, Stephen Turko of Florida; and three sisters, Ann Bielski, Margaret Boback and Mrs. Edward (Virginia) Vojna, all of Ford City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wilma (Levcik) Turko; his second wife, Emma Ricco Turko; four brothers, Metro, John, Nicholas and Basil Turko; and one sister, Mary Trop. TURKO ?Friends of Michael Turko, 82, of 1339 Sixth Ave., Ford City, who died Feb. 28, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Mantini Funeral Home, Inc., 701Sixth Ave., Ford City, where a Holy Name Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at Monday at St. Mary's Ukrainian Church, Ford City, with the Rev.officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by Mantini.
