MICHAEL
Age 63, of Midlothian passed away at home peacefully with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, September 5. He is survived by the love of his life, Sherry (Shutok) Utlak, of 33 years; as well as daughters, Kirsten (Dave) Bowes and Kelsey Utlak; grandchildren, Chase, Preston, and Kaedyn Bowes, his mother Helen Utlak; and sisters, Marcy (James) Joswick, Kathy Rausch, Paulie (Fred) Tuning, Sonnie (Jim) Bauer, Marrietta (Greg) Irvin, Nadine Kowal; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Utlak. Michael was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed by Custard Insurance Adjusters (of Norcross, GA) as a Senior Business Development Manager. His career spanned 40 years in the insurance industry. Michael enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and spending time with his family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 8, at 1:00 p.m. at the Woodlake United Methodist Church, located at 6601 Woodlake Village Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael's name to the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, Research Fund, c/o Christopher A. Mokaluk M.D., PhD. UVA Health System of Pathology. P.O. Box 800214 Charlottesville, Virginia, 22908.

Tomorrow marks four years that you passed. It seems like a mix between just yesterday and forever ago. Not a day goes by that I do not think of you. I miss you more than words can ever describe. Not a single day goes by that Mom, Kels and I speak of you or miss you. You would be so proud of the kids! Chase and Preston have straight A's and are great at baseball! Kaedyn will start Kindergarten this Fall and is so big!
We moved near Charlottesville and you would be so proud of Dave and love our new house!

I just learned of Michael's passing and am very saddened by this. I did not know Michael very well but spoke to him and met with him on occasion. He was a fine person and no doubt is missed by many.

Michael and I played golf once or twice a year for the last twenty years, at a Maryland insurance industry outing. On each of those outings, Michael would share family stories- first, about Sherry and the girls, later about the happiness he derived from his grandchildren. I knew him as a dedicated insurance professional, a happy husband, father and grandfather, a fellow gearhead, and, most of all, as a good friend. Sherry- I'm so glad I finally got to meet you last year. Thank you for sharing Michael with the rest of us.

Mom, Kels and I are so blessed and grateful for not only our time with my Dad but the wonderful friends and family we have and all the beautiful messages that are being shared.
We miss you every single day Dad and remember all the sweet memories we had together!
I love you and miss you so much, Dad! Every time Preston's duck lamp you made him blinks he knows its you saying "hello" from heaven! He gets so excited and runs to tell us! Chase talks of you often and Kaedyn still holds up your picture and says "Papa!" I know you are looking down on them and are so proud! Just as we are of you.

I just learned of Michael's death and am so sorry to hear of this. I always enjoyed his visits to my office. He was a true gentleman, and I could always tell that his family meant so much to him. I know he is missed by all who knew him.

I just learned of Mike's passing. As a fellow insurance professional, I always enjoyed his sales calls at my office as we often talked of vintage cars and motorcycles. He was to stop my my home next time up in Maryland to view my MGTD and have a bite. He was a friend, a good man and a great family man. I will miss him greatly as will many. May God be with you Mike.

My heart goes out to all of you at this sad time. It was my husband Mike's birthday on Saturday too. It has been over 3 years and still working through the loss. A sad day for me as well. I am so sorry to all of you for your loss. You have alot of beautiful memories and I wish I could have been there on Saturday for you. I wouldn't have been of much comfort to anyone. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and especially for Sherry - call me if you would ever need to talk (703) 867-3477. I've been there and totally understand. I was proactive with grief counselling weekly and am still going to a group again weekly. I would encourage you to if you haven't started already. The three basics in the beginning: eat, sleep and exercise. Love and Peace to all.
