Michael Waskel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 15, 2024.
Michael Scott Waskel, 42, of Apple Valley, California, passed away on May 28, 2024, in Galloway, Ohio.

Michael was a loving goofball who adored engaging with people, especially if they had a dog. He had a quote for every situation, with his favorite being, "Don't take life too seriously, Nobody makes it out alive." He cherished his wife, Shawnda, and was immensely proud of his sons, Joshua and Kyle. His furry best friend, Harley James Dean, held a special place in his heart. Michael's family meant everything to him, including his childhood best friend/brother, Daniel Ward, his father, Gary Keaster, step-mother Cheri Keaster, father-in-law Jeff Warner, Grandmother Karen Warner, brothers Nick Waskel and Kenny Keaster, and sisters Tara Murtlow and Karleena Cook. He is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Waskel, and mother-in-law, Lisa Warner.

In his career, Michael worked at Doctors Hospital as a Patient Transport, alongside many amazing professionals. His hobbies included hiking, watching funny videos about dogs or squirrels, and spending quality time with his loved ones.

A Celebration of Life service with a bench dedication is planned for September 2024. Contributions in Michael's memory can be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter.

The funeral home assisting with the arrangements is located in Grove City, Ohio.

Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

My Uncle Mikey was the most caring, loving and goofiest uncle l've ever had. He has impacted so many people including me with his love, kindness and care and I will forever remember him that way for who he was. It is so tragic and hard to accept that he is gone, missing his random texts of him reminding me how much he loved me, his random calls of humor and lastly hearing his voice saying "uncle Mikey loves you babygirl". I will always have a void in my heart that´s missing him and I know he is looking down wishing me and his family nothing but the best.

My brother Mikey was the only person I knew I could call at any time of the day even if he was at work and he´d answer his phone I could literally talk to him for hours. He always knew what to say to cheer me up he believed in me even when I didn´t believe in my self. He always made me laugh I wish I could have just one more conversation with him so I could tell him how proud I was of him and how great he was doing I love you Mikey and I can´t wait to see you again.

There is just so much to say about my brother. Dbone the Great!!! Everyone has that one person, he was mine...
We have been thru so much and no matter what, we never turned our back on each other. Mike had this energy about him. No matter where he was people radiated to him. The room would notice him without him saying a word. He always has been outgoing, charismatic, hilarious, fearless, giving, loving, and if he loved you he LOVED you , from us as kids to the last day I hugged him. I will always have that void in my life and the piece of my heart gone. He was ultimately my best friend, my brother and my person. I will miss him everyday. I love you Dbone forever.

My brother was a wild and crazy spirit, but he was also my best friend; especially during my teenage years. He helped me navigate the waters of my multitude of issues when I struggled keeping my head above water. He also had such a strong and special connection with my son/ his nephew that could never be replaced. He is missed by so many people who love him

My favorite memory of Michael is how he made everybody laugh every single day at work. He made our whole department brighter even on days that didn't seem so bright . Not a workday goes by that I don't think about him and wish that he was still here. He will continue to be truly missed and always remembered.!

I could not include all of the family in photos so please share here. I will also be making a special "turning hearts" site for him that will coincide with his memorial bench.
