Michael William Rodee

Michael William Rodee, age 83 of Wauwatosa, WI, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025 after battling a rare form of cancer called MDS. He was born in Milwaukee in 1942 to Charles and Elinor Rodee. They moved to Delafield, WI in 1949. Mike graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1960. He was a wrestler, gymnast and track star. He received an undergraduate degree from UW Lacrosse, followed by 4 years in the Navy on the USS Edward McDonnell. He taught physical education for Milwaukee Public Schools for 28 years. He was a well-known (some say legendary) scow sailor on Lake Nagawicka and won many ILYA races & regattas in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin Athletic Club for 42 years and played racquetball competitively. He enjoyed metal detecting. He enjoyed finding lost items and getting them back to their rightful owners. More than anything else, he loved a good cup of coffee, a quiet place to drink it and read the paper. In his later years he spent half of the year in Clearwater Beach, FL metal detecting and connecting with friends. He was a kind, gentle person that lived a quiet simple life. He will be missed and is survived by his brother John Rodee(Kristine Hinrichs),(niece Katie Matteson and nephew Jack Rodee) and his sister Margaret McManus (nephew Steve McManus and nephew Mark McManus).
