Kevin Jones
January 22, 2012
hello, I knew Mike since he came to Canada in 1965-6. We were friends in NDG and we went together to West Virginia in 1967. I moved to Van in late 67 and Mike came a while later, spring 68? He stayed with my family for a while, and we used to stay at an old cottage in Deep Cove. We had lots of fun around the Retinal Circus, etc, in those years. We sort of went different ways for a while, I moved to Prince George. I last saw Mike in spring '71 just before coming to England where I now live. I have often thought about him, and his mod clothes and string vests. Best wishes, Kevin Jones. This is how I looked then.

The wildest free spirit you will ever have met. So many laughs and adventures stolen. A brother of my heart. Funny, generous, TOTALLY non judgemental, creative, musical, witty, crazy, a friend for the ages. Thanks to fate I got to know him for nearly 40 years and share some unbelievable times. Nicky and all of us have been robbed but blessed to stand near the comet.

I was privileged to know Michael as Nicola's partner. I know he was her rock -- always supportive of whatever she did. Michael didn't judge, which is rare indeed. He was always quick with a laugh and a joke, and I am deeply saddened that he is gone.

My heartfelt condolences to Nicole and other friends of the 11th Street 'hood, for the sudden loss. This "brother" always enjoyed sidewalk conversations with the mayor-Michael and feel very fortunate to have known him.
