MICHAEL YARNEVICH Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 2, 2015.
Michael Joseph Yarnevich, 58, passed away on November 18th, 2015 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center with his wife and son by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Sylvia Marie (Clark) Yarnevich; He is survived by his wife, Janis (Jones) Yarnevich; son, Adam (Suzanne) Yarnevich of Prairie Village, KS; sisters Joyce Dickman of Las Vegas, NV, Nancy (Dan) Swayne of Overland Park, KS, and Mary Ann (Ron) Hardman of Kansas City, KS; brother, John (Mary) Yarnevich of Reno, NV; mother- in-law, Rebecca Jones and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Michael was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, KS, and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1975. He worked for the Board of Public Utilities for 36 years, retiring in 2012. In retirement, Michael was able to devote his time to the things he loved and had many projects on his list. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, son, and daughter- in-law. He particularly loved going to the lake and following our local sports teams on the road, seeing many Chiefs, Sporting, and Jayhawk wins all over the U.S. He loved his dogs and had many in his adult life. We know that he has already found his way to the Rainbow Bridge to find Jake, Charlie, Bandit, Mabel, and Laura. We are sure that they were ready for a long awaited W-A-L-K. But Michael's biggest enjoyment came from spending time with his large family, immediate and extended. He made a point to spend as much time with his siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews as often as he could. He believed that family came first and especially looked forward to holidays when he could see or talk to everyone. It wasn't uncommon to see him at a basketball game, maternity ward, or graduation (just to name a few) to support whichever family member was participating. His list of friends is too long to mention, but they know who they are and how much he loved them. Visitation will be 4 p.m. Friday, December 4th with a memorial service following at 5 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. 1086 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112. A reception will follow at another, nearby, location. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas 66104. Michael was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed by many that knew him, and he would truly be humbled by the outpouring of support his family has already received.
