Michael Francis Yarussi passed away peacefully and surrounded by those he loved on October 31, 2010 at the age of 58. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Michael graduated from South Hills High School. In 1973, he earned a BA in geology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He later earned a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979. Michael moved to Dallas in 1983 to pursue his passion for geology. Over the last 30 years, he successfully built and served as the president of JAMEX, Inc. an oil and gas exploration company named for those of which he was most proud, his family. He was a proud member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the American Institute of Professional Geologists, Texas Oil and Gas Association, Ft. Worth Wildcatters, and a Dallas Wildcat Committee Member of the Dallas Petroleum Club. Michael is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of 35 years, children Amanda and Michael, Steven Bowditch, mother Barbara Yarussi, sister and brother-in-law Sandra and Kevin Marren, mother-in-law Jeannette Ross, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dr. Gene and Cynthia Marcelli, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Donna Ross, and four nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his father Albert Yarussi and father-in-law John Ross. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell. Visitation will be held at Restland in Coppell on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Ann Catholic Parish Thursday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Medical Center, 2777 Stemmons Fwy., Ste. 700, Dallas, TX 75207.
