Michael ZAHNER Obituary
August 29, 1926 - March 15, 2015
Michael (Mike) Zahner passed away on March 15, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Nakovo, Yugoslavia (Banat) on August 29, 1926 and immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1953. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Herrat Zahner (nee Gaudek); his children: Hedda and Frank (Miki) Zahner of Calgary, Martin (Nancy) Griffith-Zahner of Prince Rupert, BC; his grandchildren: Ben (Christina) and Adam (Vanessa) of Vancouver, BC. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Frank (Dawn) Gaudek of Calgary and their children: Karin (Phil) Sheil of Sharjah, UAE and their children: Dylan Sheil of Edmonton, Jason Sheil of Calgary, and Megan Sheil of Vancouver; Michelle (Graham) Gaudek-Thomson of Bragg Creek and their son, Ian. He is survived by his sister- in-law, Agisa de Sieyes of Mckenzie Bridge, Oregon and her children: John de Sieyes of Calgary and Galt (Kelly) de Sieyes and their daughter Cassidy, all of Fort Collins, Colorado. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Nikolaus Zahner of Nakovo, Yugoslavia; his brother, Franz; his in- laws, Heddi and Ferdinand Gaudek; and his brother-in-law's second child, Kelly Gaudek. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held at the Unitarian Church of Calgary (1703 – 1 Street NW) on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. A FAMILY MEMBER REQUESTS A SCENT FREE ENVIRONMENT AT THE SERVICE. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Mike's family through www.evanjstrong.com. I was so blessed in my life to have met Mike and his family. It was with great sorrow and heartache when I learned of his passing. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all in the family as you go through this difficult time. An amazing man and an amazing life - he will never be forgotten.
